Families and children

Any infant (less than 2 years old) must be attended by an adult (at least 18 years old). An adult is not allowed to carry more than 1 infant. The number of life vests and oxygen masks per seat row must not be less than the number of passengers of the seat row refer infant limit.
Any child (less than 12 years old) should be assisted by an adult seated near him. An adult may attend a group of children if he is not in charge during the flight of an infant less than 2 years old. One adult may assist a group of no more than 12 children.

Food

Baby food necessary for feeding the child in flight is allowed to be carried in hand luggage. Water is subject to restrictions, the volume is not more than 100 ml.

Baggage

For children under 2 y.o without a separate seat, only the following free baggage allowance is provided:

  • stroller or pushchair.

Baby carriage

A baby carriage, including light weight completely folding stroller carried in luggage compartment of the aircraft as registered baggage in excess of established rate. Passenger can use the carriage before landing on board the aircraft. Carriage is obligatory transferred for loading into the luggage compartment just before boarding aircraft.

Places for passengers with children

Due to security rules seats near emergency exits are not provided to passengers with children up to 15 years old.

Only one infant without separate seat can be accommodated at the seats block, consisting of 2, 3 or 4 seats.

Pregnant Passenger (Expectant Mother) Pregnant passenger carrying one child [single uncomplicated]) from the beginning of 28th week of pregnancy (calculated using the estimated date of delivery), a doctor certificate is required for accepting flight. Until the beginning of 28th week of pregnancy, no need any special certificate. Beyond the end of 36th week of single pregnancy (calculated using the estimated date of delivery), Southwind Airlines does not accept passenger for flying. Pregnant passenger carrying twins, triplets or more[multiple uncomplicated]) from the beginning of 28th week of pregnancy (calculated using the estimated date of delivery), a doctor certificate is required for accepting flight. Until the beginning of 28th week of multiple pregnancy, no need any special certificate. Beyond the end of 32nd weekof multiple pregnancy (calculated using the estimated date of delivery), Southwind Airlines does not accept passenger for flight. Complicated Pregnancies a doctor certificate is required for accepting flight. Miscarriage (Threatened or complete) Southwind Airlines does not accept any pregnant passenger with activebleeding. If passenger becomes stable with no bleeding and no pain for at least 24 hours, needs to present doctor certificate for flight.

We remind you that the validity of your doctor's report should not exceed 7 days back from your departure date. Doctor name, surname, diploma number, doctor signature, stamp and ‘Fit to Flight’ phrase supposed to be in your report.

Air travel is not allowed for new born babies within the first 48 hours after birth. From 2 to 7 days old fit and healthy babies can travel with a medical clearance. However It is strongly recommended that the new born babies should travel after the 7th day of birth. Beyond that day no medical clearance is request by Southwind Airlines. Premature babies shall be considered as MEDA cases and dealtwith under the terms of Resolution 700 and Recommended Practice 1700.

Age restrictions

  • domestic and international flights: from 6 to 12 years

Children under the age of 6 are not accepted for transportation as unaccompanied children.

Minor is accepted for carriage without an adult passenger accompanying

List of documents:

  • Ticket;
  • Identity document: foreign passport;
  • Preliminary agreement of carrier for carriage of unaccompanied minor;
  • «Agreement for carriage of an unaccompanied minor» executed by a parent/warden (lawful representative);
  • Notarized agreement for international flight of unaccompanied minor without escort, indicating the time of departure and the country.

Transportation of unaccompanied minors is carried out only:

  • To airports there are representatives of carrier or agents;
  • On direct flights of carrier, to first landing point;
  • Parent or appointed guardian must stay at the airport until the flight is airborne.

The allocation of unaccompanied minors on board performed on basis of the following criteria:

  • Seat is not located in emergency and emergency exits;
  • There is a rescue equipment;
  • Air steward can monitor the child during the flight;
  • Maximum 10 UM’s to be accepted. Exemption: In case of brothers/sisters are traveling together the number of UM's may increase.

Check-in of unaccompanied minors cannot be performed through airline’s web-site.

Accompanying minor must remain at departure airport before actual departure of the aircraft.



A child between 12 and 17 years of age is considered a Young Person. At the request of parents or guardians, the same arrangements can be made as for Unaccompanied minor.
